Back to the DR!

Alright we know we said we’d be headed to Greece next, but circumstances intervened :).  Tim only has a week of vacation time this year, which has to be used up prior to 2009, and we’re looking to go somewhere on the cheap, so back to the Dominican we go!

For all those who voted in the wedding gift showdown, don’t worry Greece is still on the top of the list; we’re thinking we’ll save it for the next trip when we’ll have more time, and [hopefully] more money in the travel fund.

This time around we’ve decided to head to Dominican’s North Shore. We’ve booked ourselves into the nicest 3 star resort we could find ;). And, oddly enough, the Paraiso Tropical just happens to be right next to the little surf town of Cabarete (2km away). We’re thinking we’ll be spending more time surfing and lazing about on the beach than anything else, so who cares what the digs are like. But to be fair, it gets okay reviews, and the photos don’t look so bad, so who knows. We’ll definitely send along updates after we arrive.

As an added bonus we’ll get to spend our 1 year anniversary back in the Dominican, so that’s pretty cool.

We can’t wait!!

Welcome to There and Back Again dot Org!

Welcome to the official travel blog of Tim Burrell and Jess Dutton! Even before getting married in the Dominican Republic we both knew one of our common goals was to spend as much time traveling and getting to know our wonderful planet together as possible — and thus thereandbackagain.org was born!

Our intent is to post updates and photos from our adventures while on the road (whenever possible), and we should have photos up from the trip to the Dominican soon! We’ll also be announcing the results of our wedding gift registry here as soon as all the votes are in!

Again, thanks to everyone for making our wedding so special, and for getting us even more excited for our new lives together. We love and miss you all already, and although this is no substitute for being there with you we wanted to find some way (even a small one) to share our new lives as a married couple with you.

Tim and Jess.
